Competence of the School of Tourism, Catering and Trade. The event will bring the focus to young sommelier talent and the knowledge, precision and hospitality skills that define the profession.

For aspiring sommeliers, the competition offers an opportunity to put their skills into practice and gain valuable experience beyond the classroom. It is also an occasion to connect with others who share an interest in wine and gastronomy, exchange perspectives and find inspiration for further professional development.

Front of House Talent Cup 2027

ROC Mondriaan’s International Hotel & Management School invites hospitality students and their teachers to the second edition of the Front of House Talent Cup. This international competition brings together aspiring front office professionals to demonstrate their hotel reception skills, guest service and professional presentation in a realistic hospitality setting.

The event combines practical challenges with professional training, a masterclass and opportunities to meet fellow students and teachers. Participants will develop their confidence with hotel technology and explore the personal, enthusiastic and welcoming approach to hospitality known as Hostmanship.

Competition programme

The competition takes place on 1–2 February 2027, with arrivals on 31 January and departures on 3 February.

Practical Hotel Reception Skills — 1 February: Using OPERA Cloud PMS, students will complete tasks including check-in, check-out, handling complaints and responding to special requests.

Guest Relations: “All About The Hague and Surroundings” — 2 February: Students will demonstrate their knowledge of local attractions, events and practical information, communicating effectively in English and reflecting the friendly Moxy hospitality spirit.

The programme also includes OPERA Cloud PMS training by van Hessen, a masterclass with Hostmanship expert Mr Rob van Vlokhoven, a leisure activity and an awards ceremony followed by a closing dinner.

Participation and accommodation

Participation is limited to 12 teams, each consisting of two students and one teacher. Students should wear their complete school uniform and maintain a professional appearance throughout the competition.

The participation fee is €825 per team and includes:

Three nights at MOXY The Hague, the official competition hotel, with a shared double room for the students and a single room for the teacher.

A welcome happy hour and Meet & Greet.

Breakfast, plus two lunches and two dinners on 1–2 February.

The masterclass, OPERA Cloud PMS training and leisure activity.

The awards ceremony and closing dinner.

Registration and preparation

Schools wishing to participate should express their interest by contacting FOH.project@rocmondriaan.nl. Following confirmation of interest, the organisers will provide the registration forms for financial and team details.

Registration closes on 1 December 2026. With only 12 team places available, early contact is encouraged.

The MOXY The Hague hotel factsheet, OPERA Cloud training materials and other preparation documents will be shared by the end of November 2026.

Participation may be eligible under the Erasmus+ Group Mobility scheme. Schools should confirm eligibility and funding arrangements with their Erasmus+ coordinator or National Agency.
